Luigi's Mansion 3's lack of postgame content is disappointing!

Unread post by Tiger21820 MASTER!! »

A post I made in this topic on Gaming Latest gives my 2 cents on why I think the ending is a bummer:

The game was really great for what it was, but the abrupt ending without any new game plus (which the first Luigi's Mansion had!) just made the ending a bummer... After you win, you are essentially locked out of your save file, and I really did not like that! Why not be able to start the game over from the beginning with a gold high score, all of your achievements, ghosts, boos, gems, etc. that you acquired from your first playthrough! Even Dark Moon (which is my favorite installment of the series) allowed you to continue playing and basically start the game over from the beginning (sans viewing the opening cutscene) by replaying missions! You could continue to collect gold for the vault, beat your mission records, capture ghosts, play in the ScareScraper and unlock all the modes and get all the ghosts... I could go on and on! I don't know how to word the rest of the things I can say in this post, so I'll end here!

No postgame content? Ouch!
I've been playing it, didn't know there wouldn't be any postgame! That's not very good at all!

I would have really liked a new game plus, like the original Luigi's Mansion, to have a chance to beat my high score, get the rest of the achievements, make the ScareScraper (As well as the DLC, which STILL does not make a finished save file any less unplayable as it is already!) more meaningful, or even a hard mode! But in my opinion, the fact that you cannot carry over ANYTHING from an old save file over to a new save file, or just start a finished save file with a best gold score, your collected gems, your captured ghosts and Boos, and your achievement progress intact just make the game unplayable to me, and sadly also makes it my least favorite Luigi's Mansion installment of the trilogy (My favorite Luigi's Mansion is Dark Moon)... That is also a shame, since I really love the game for what it is, and absolutely enjoyed playing through it, but I just don't love it enough to replay aside from an annual Halloween playthrough... If there was any way to carry over save data to a new file, or continue with a new game plus, it wouldn't have to be the least favorite of the three!

My rating scale goes like this (from best to worst):

I currently give Luigi's Mansion 3 a B+!

Yeah, the lack of postgame is disappointing. As is the lack of any way to refight any of the bosses, or try some of the more unique challenges you encountered again (the floatie section in the Boilerworks, the pineapple dodging in Garden Suites, etc).

Still, I liked it more than Dark Moon and the original myself, and I found the recent updates fantastic too.

After playing through this game a second time and being in the process of doing it a third time, I have come to appreciate this game way more than I did before!

Dark Moon will always be the best Luigi's Mansion ever!
